The specialist in automatic pallet wrappers, Movitec, has been acquired by the Mosca GmbH Group, benefiting from its global network. Mosca, in turn, will expand its portfolio to offer complete end-of-line solutions. Movitec will boost its international opportunities, enhancing quality and customer service.
Movitec will thus strengthen its global presence.
Since March 18, Movitec has, for all intents and purposes, been part of the Mosca Group, operating as an independent company and brand. This synergy will provide Movitec access to a global sales network and Mosca access to sectors where Movitec was already well established.
The strapping specialist Mosca and the stretch film wrapping expert Movitec share the same approach: fully automated end-of-line solutions to securely and reliably wrap goods for transport.
The two companies have much in common, from the highest quality standards and comprehensive service packages to operational methods and structures. However, the two companies do not directly compete with each other.
While strapping ensures optimal stability of the product package, the focus of stretch film wrapping is to protect the products from external influences such as dust, moisture, or dirt.
Movitec’s co-founder and CEO, Víctor Teixiné, is committed to the merger:
“As part of the Mosca Group, we have the opportunity to benefit from solid sales structures and supply chain networks. At the same time, we are excited to bring together the best of both worlds in end-of-line technology and work together to accelerate the development of innovative solutions.”
As a result of the acquisition, Movitec will become an independent company within the Mosca Group.
Víctor Teixiné will continue overseeing Movitec as Managing Director, and nothing will change for the more than 50 employees of the automatic pallet wrapper manufacturer. Processes and customer relationships will also remain unchanged.
Carles Jurado, Commercial and Marketing Director at Movitec, explains:
“We have a great growth opportunity. The formation of this new group offers great potential to open new markets for both companies and allows us to offer even more complete solutions to our customers.”
Complete systems: sustainable and cost-effective
Movitec’s pallet wrappers are currently used in fully automated applications. Thanks to their ring wrapping technology, they offer an exceptionally high performance of up to 160 pallets per hour.
Movitec solutions are most commonly used in the food, distribution, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries. Mosca’s strapping solutions, on the other hand, are primarily found in the corrugated cardboard, paper, and logistics industries.
In many industries, complete systems consisting of strapping technology and stretch film wrappers are rarely used because, among other reasons, customers are reluctant to buy two separate systems. But Mosca and Movitec have worked together in recent years to successfully plan and install end-of-line systems for the paper processing industry.
A perfect combo for the end of the line
The combination of both processes is especially useful when products require secure packaging on a pallet and need effective protection against environmental influences. This can be the case, for example, when food products or other sensitive goods are stacked on pallets for transport. Strapping provides the necessary stability, significantly reducing the amount of stretch plastic film needed to protect the products.
Timo Mosca, CEO of the company of the same name, elaborates:
“In addition to the possibilities of digitization, we continue to focus on sustainability. Mosca has been using eco-friendly materials in the production of its strapping materials for years. For example, only recycled materials are used to produce PET straps. Now, we would like to bring the knowledge we have gained from our own developments to Movitec. By working with Movitec’s experts, we will also look for potential ways to optimize the eco-sustainability of stretch wrapping technology in the coming years.”
